“In building the Longhouse we are making the connection between the sky (our true Longhouse) and the Earth. It will be a place of teaching about our creation stories and principles of living in harmony as they were given to our people in the original Good Message and reinforced by the Great Law of Peace." — Kanerahtiio Jock
We invite you to be a part of this extraordinary opportunity to heal an original wound of trauma & dispossession and work together to create a livable future for our children.
Roger Kanerahtiio Jock, a Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) leader from the Akwesasne Reserve, has come back to his ancestral land with a mission to teach the Great Law of Peace.
In this small, divided county in rural upstate New York, Kanerahtiio Jock's vision of a traditional Kanien’kehá:ka Longhouse and Farm Community has inspired people from all political stripes and backgrounds to support a model of restorative justice and community supported land reparations.
Thank you to all of you beautiful people that have helped to bring this structure and symbol of peace to the Schoharie Valley. We put the first poles in the ground on September 13th and have been working since then. We would love to see you again, give thanks and share some words and songs.
Spring has arrived, and with it - the promise of renewal, growth, hope and healing as we slowly and cautiously make our way beyond last year's pandemic. We are looking forward to welcoming back both the dedicated volunteers who spent last Summer with us preparing the Cedar poles for the Longhouse frame, and new faces that feel compelled to help bring the vision of Kanerahtiio Jock to fruition.
Stay tuned here for upcoming Volunteer Opportunities throughout 2021. We will be adding available dates as we begin the building process to the calendar below, or please consider signing up for our newsletter to stay updated as opportunities begin to arise. We look forward to welcoming you to the Longhouse, working together with our minds turned towards a new time of healing and transformation.
